News from City Council

  • Starting May 12th until June 6, the city will start a cleaning operation on its waterworks system. This measure is essential in order to maintain the quality of the network. During that period of time, the city advises not to use tap water for laundry and washing dishes during the day from 7:30 am to 5 pm. More details.

  • Here are the main items of the City Council's meeting of May 5th:

    • The council approved a contract presented by the Ministère des Affaires municipales, du Sport et des Loisirs for a grant to promote our local heritage. The project consist of a patrimonial walking trail and a bike path in the Old Village that will meet the Villageoise bike path and the Route Verte. In making this project as representative as possible of the essence of the Old Village, residents and shop owners of the Old Village will be consulted.

    • The Director of the Bromont police, Mr. Réal Ouimet will retire from his functions this summer after 28 years of services. Also director of the Public security service, Mr. Ouimet played a key role in keeping the Municipal Police service in Bromont. Sergeant Yvon Allard has been named interim director.

    • Residential growth is still doing really well in Bromont. A total of 23 permits were handed in the month of April. These permits represent an amount of 2.6 million dollars. View the latest residential development statistics.

  • The Bromont ville branchée project is getting recognition even outside of Quebec. The project director, Mr. Beaudoin, will present the Bromont expertise on the use of information technologies at an international conference on democracy and local management in Quebec city in May.

  • A wonderful way to show your support to the BMP Hospital: tickets are still available for the concert to benefit the hospital. Featuring L'Orchestre symphonique de la Montérégie, the concert will be held Saturday May 17th at 8 p.m. at the Saint-François-Xavier church.   • The Bromont Chocolate Fest is back for its third year. The event will take place May 17, 18, 19, 24 and 25th. Visit the website to find out about all of the chocolatee activities.

  • The annual lobster dinner to benefit «l'Association des pompiers volontaires de Bromont» will take place May 31st at the Arena. This event will help «L'Association» cater to many children in need in the community. Tickets are $60 and are available by calling Michel Martin at 534-2940 or André Latour at 534-4769.

  • From May 23rd to the 25th, you are invited to attend the International CAN-AM Combined Driving competition / World championship trial at the Olympic site. Access is free for everyone.
