• Until October 9th, it's Fire Prevention Week with a focus on the "My life is worth more than a battery" theme. The Bromont Fire Department reminds residents of the utmost importance to regularly check the working condition of smoke detectors which do save lives in an emergency.

  • Public works will be conducting aqueduct maintenance from October 5th to the 22nd to the municipal water facilities (October 26-29th in Adamsville). It is advised to wait until sunset to do any laundry and check your tap water prior to consumption.

  • A reminder that temporary car shelters are allowed in Bromont starting October 15th until next April.

  • The Bromont Police Department restates that Halloween is celebrated October 31st and that the usual security rules are to be followed.

  • According to a recent study done by the CEFRIO for the Ministère des Affaires municipales, sport et loisir («Le Web municipal au Québec: portrait de la situation en 2004» in .pdf format), the City of Bromont Internet Portal is the most complete in terms of information services and functionality among the Province of Quebec municipalities.

  • On the International scene, the City of Bromont will receive again this year the prestigious «Label Ville Internet 2004» de France, October 7th in Paris. This prize underlines the continuous efforts of a community fostering the use of information technology for the betterment of all.

Special events

  • Isabeau and Mélisande Corriveau will be performing celtic music with concert flute, harp and cello at the Community Center next October 23rd. Tickets are available ($8 per person) at the Community Center, City Hall and the Library.

  • This Halloween, a group of musicians, actors, dancers and jugglers will be touring Bromont parks to enliven the traditional event:

  • As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, the Municipal Council will mark the contribution made by forty citizens who have helped to define the Bromont culture. The Gala will take place October 30th at the Chateau Bromont - Resort Hotels and tickets can be purchased for $75 each at City Hall and the Community Center.

Community life

  • Indoor golf lessons and a practice facility are available at the Arena starting October 15th. Monday to Friday, from 1 pm to 5 pm and weekends from 9 am to noon. Contact Mario Côté and Gilles Rousseau at 405-4203 for more information.

  • Take advantage of the free access to the skating rink at the Arena every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, and Sundays from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

  • Again this year, le Salon des artisans will take place November 20th and 21st in the hall at the Arena. Craftsperson are invited to contact Lyne Beaudry for further details at 534-5617.

  • Le Club de l'Âge d'Or de Bromont will have an Halloween dance at the Community Center, Saturday October 30th, starting at 7 pm. Contact Lise Duchesne for more information at 534-2710.
