• Take note that City Hall will be closed for the holidays from December 23th to January 4th, the Community Center and the school library from December 24th to January 5th. The arena will be closed December 24th, 25th, 31st and January 1st.

  • The new fire truck arrived at Station 1, on Bromont Boulevard, Friday November 26th. The International 2005 model is equiped with a 2400 gallon tank, two foam tanks and a 1050 gallons per minute pump. The truck will enable the Fire Department to meet the latest ministère de la Sécurité publique du Québec guidelines.

  • Highlights of City Council's meeting of December 6th are:

    • The Council followed up on the Town of Brome Lake request to share policing services by giving a mandate to Senior Manager and Development Director Jacques Des Ormeaux to elaborate a protocol of agreement.

    • The City will adopt the fiscal year 2005 budget at the special Council meeting of December 13th.

    • The Council has given the mandate to the Leisure, cultural and community life director Ronald Caron to demand available subsidies from the "Pacte rural de la MRC de la Haute-Yamaska" for the multi-functional building, adjacent to the "de la Chantignole" elementary school.

Special events

  • As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, the City of Bromont organized a "Welcome day" for new residents that took place last November 20th. Close to 200 new residents responded to the invitation and met with City councillors and gathered information on City departments and services, as well as on local businesses. A survey conducted on site revealed that quality of life (tranquility, sports) and the outdoors where the main factors in choosing Bromont.

  • The City of Bromont Family Policy will be officially launched Sunday December 19th at 2 p.m. at the Community Center. For the occasion, a Christmas choral driven by Serge Lavertu and Françoise Turcotte will be performing live for the families present.


Community life

  • The inscription period for the Winter 2005 guide to community activities is going on until January 6th.

  • La Guignolée of the Saint-François-Xavier parish will take place on December 11th. Volunteers will collect donations and non-perishable food items from 9:30 am to noon. Thank you for your generosity.

  • Welcome to the young hockey players from local and regional teams taking part in the Tournoi Novice and Pre-Novice tournament at the Arena from December 26th to 30th. Reach the Association de hockey mineur de Bromont at 534-0088.

  • Take advantage of the free skating rink access at the Arena every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, and Sundays from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. View also the Holiday schedule for the Arena. Weather permitting, four outdoor skating rinks will be available for skaters at Grégoire Park and behind the Community Center.

  • On December 31st at 7 p.m. will take place the traditional "Marche de la Paix", a few kilometres walk through the streets of Bromont. Starting point, the Arena hallway. For more information, you may reach Louise Morin at 534-2487.
