• Highlights of the main items of the City Council's meeting of January 12th are:

    • Community groups and organizations from Bromont will be given financial support from the city so they may keep on providing activities and special events for residents and visitors. View the chart.

    • City council approved a report presented by the Police department regarding traffic increase since the start of the ski season.

    • The city council will present official congratulations to Dalsa for their involvement in the NASA's latest mission.

    • The city council will also present official congratulations to Bromont resident Marie-Soleil Dion, performer in the Cavalia Show.

Special events

  • www.bromont.comAs part of the special events surrounding Bromont's 40th anniversary, the city will host a special hockey game featuring well known hockey players. The game will take place on January 24th at the Arena at 2 pm. The event will benefit the Steve Charbonneau foundation. Guy Lafleur, Gilbert Perreault, Réal Cloutier, André "Moose" Dupont and Stéphane Richer are scheduled to take part in this event.

  • Le Carnaval Saint-Vincent-Ferrier, a celebration of winter fun will take place from January 30th to February 7th. View the complete schedule of activities.

Community life

  • www.mondialduvelo.comCongratulations are in order to Dominique Côté and Micheal Drolet. These Bromont residents have been nominated international mountaing bike commissioners. Involved for many years with le Mondial du vélo, they will now be called upon, along 160 other commissioners, to officiate at international events such as International championships and the Olympics.

  • You have until January 18th to see the works of painter Anne Lemieux presented at Galerie De Nevers art gallery. The exhibition is titled "Art équestre". For more info (450) 534-0677.

  • La troupe Chlorophylle is offering an arts and crafts workshop especially for Valentine's Day on February 8th at the Centre communautaire. Fee is $25 per family. For more info 534-1220.

  • Spanish courses for beginners will start shortly and a there is still room for a few more students. Contact Pauline Pelletier for all the details at 534-3904.

  • Children aged 5 and older are invited to discover their inner self and personal talent by participating in arts and crafts workshops. These once a week workshops will start later in January. Get in touch with Nicole Gélineau at 534-3176 for more information.

  • The Bromont Aréna provides ice time for free style skating on weekends. So take your skates out the closet and take advantage of the free access on Saturdays from 12 pm to 1:30 pm (starting January 21st until March 20th) and on Sunday from 1 pm to 2:30 pm (until March 21st). Two outdoors skating rinks are also in operation: Grégoire park in Adamsville and behind the Centre communutaire. For info 534-4414.

  • Le club horticole de Bromont is now in the process of planning its 2004 calendar of activities and events. The club welcomes comments and suggestions. For more information, visit the website.

  • If you are interested in starting or pursuing a "Pilates" training program, you will be pleased to know that Nadine Beaudry, a Pilates trainer will provide courses in Bromont beginning January 19th. For more information 266-4398.

  • Le Cercle des fermières is offering a selection of workshops both for children and adults at the Cercle's premises located at in the Centre communautaire. Knitting, sowing, crochet, these are a few of the workshops given by members of the Cercle des fermières. You may contact Colette Rousseau at 534-1788 for more information.

  • www.chocolat.ca.tcThe Chocolate Fest of Bromont is seeking sculptors for this year's celebration of everything related to chocolate! Participants must be available for the entire duration of the event (May 22-24 and May 29-30). Artists will be paid for their work. Volunteers are also needed for the event. Take note that all volunteers are given a small amount of money for their time and involvement.
