• As part of the special activities and events surrounding the celebration of the City's 40th anniversary, Bromonters are invited to take part in a special contest. In order to do so, send a picture or write a few lines on what it means to enjoy Bromont's quality of life. A jury will select three winners which will each be treated to dinner for two at one of Bromont's many restaurants. You have until May 31st to send in your personal story or picture by email at mj.hanoul@bromont.com.

  • A reminder that temporary car shelters must be removed by April 15th and that starting this date, until November 15th, overnight parking is allowed in the streets of Bromont, except where indicated.

  • The City is seeking candidates to fill the following job openings : summer camp coordinator, municipal beach lifeguard and voluntary firefighter.

  • Highlights of the main items of the City Council's meeting of April 5th are:

    • City council has approved the hiring of a Public Works Director. The City will also be seeking candidates to fill the General Manager function.

    • A loan by-law for $ 1 028 000 was approved for the construction of the new police station and the refitting of the fire station.

    • Extensive repair works must be done to the water supply network located on Champlain, de Lévis, des Pentes, de Nicolet and de Charlevoix streets. As such, City council has approved a loan by-law of $3 million. Infrastructures for the Medican development project (Le Cercle des Cantons) which is located nearby are also included in these major repairs.

    • City council has begun the process of making changes to the zoning bylaws regarding the Bromont sur le Lac outdoor complex to allow the opening of a health centre/spa, training centre and hotel facility on a portion of the site. As a result of this zoning change and of the transaction that will follow, 80% of the site will be returned to the City to be used as a park.


Special events

  • If "garage sale hopping" is a hobby of yours, remember that the Bromont garage sale will take place at the Arena on May 1st starting at 9 am until 3 pm. If getting stuff out of your house is what you need to do, tables are still available for rent. More info at 534-4414.

  • The Bromont Chocolate Fest will present a concert to benefit the BMP Foundation at Saint-François-Xavier church, Saturday May 1st at 8 pm. Tickets are available at la Confiserie Bromont and City Hall. Ticket price is $20, V.I.P tickets are also available for $50.

  • Marc Dupré, a well known impersonator, will be spending the summer in Bromont at the brand new «Chapiteau Bromont». Tickets for the show will be available to Bromonters at the special price of $25 (regular price $31.95). You may get your tickets at City Hall or at the Tourism and economic Information centre (open 7 days).

Community life

  • The Val-des-Cerfs school board wishes to remind all parents that have not yet registered children who will attend kindergarden in the fall of 2004 must do so now. Get in touch with De la Chantignole elementary school at 534-3310 or Saint-Vincent-Ferrier elementary school at 263-4224 for more information.

  • Many playgrounds can be found throughout the City of Bromont. Starting April 24th, you will be able to take advantage of the following facilities :

    • Basketball : De la Chantignole school and Grégoire Park (from 9 am to 9 pm)
    • Skate park : Grégoire Park (from 9 am to 9 pm). Courses are available to all whishing to improve their skateboarding techniques and skills. More info.
    • Tennis court : Free access for all residents (8 am to 10 pm). There is a $5 fee to have a your key to the courts. Private and group lessons are available. More info in the «Leisure and recreation programs» section of the website.
    • Baseball field : Available for teams or groups. Contact the SLCVC at loisirs@bromont.com or by phone at 534-4414.

  • Soccer players are invited to take part in a "friendly game night". Games are to be held at the soccer field next to the community centre. Open for teens and adults. Call 534-4414 for all the details.

  • The Bromont tennis league welcomes all players who wish to join the group. For more info, get in touch with Paul Johnston at johseg@videotron.ca or by phone at 266-2489.

  • Le Club horticole de Bromont will host a conference by Yves Gagnon, biologist and published author on planning an "environmentally friendly" garden. Conference is scheduled to take place May 4th at 7 pm at the Centre communautaire, 40, Compton Road. Access is free for all members of the club, $5 entrance fee for non-members.

  • Le Printanier, the first equestrian event/competition to take place is Bromont this spring will be presented on the grounds of the Bromont Olympic site on May 1st. Site will be open from 8 am to 4 pm, access is free for spectators. You may get more information by calling 534-0787.

  • Don't miss the opportunity to find great deals on all kind of kids' stuff at De la Chantignole's garage sale on April 17th from 8 am to noon. Tables are still available if you whish to clean out some of your closets… Get in touch with Élise or Maryse at 534-3310.

  • From August 27th to 29th, Bromont will host once again the Bromont en art symposium. A program called "Un artiste sous mon toit" is seeking families who wish to welcome artists from all over Québec looking for a place to stay.
