• While construction works for the new police station and the refitting of fire station no.1 are under way, Municipal Police is re-located at fire station no.3 at 15, rue Du Ciel, in the industrial park. Phone number to contact the police service remains the same, 534-3131.

  • A reminder that due to new city regulations, residents who whish to hold a yard sale (garage sale) must do so during specific weekends, first one being June 12th-13th. No permit is necessary.

  • Highlights of the main items of the City Council's meeting of June 7th :

    • City Council adopted the Bromont Family policy which will be posted on the website at a later date. Special thanks were offered to the Committee members, especially to councillor Réal Brunelle who acted as coordinator.

    • A new public works director was hired, M. Jean Lanciault, and will take office July 12th. He will report to M. Nicolas Rousseau, Directeur de la gestion du territoire.

    • As required in the lease with la fiducie Bromont sur le lac, the Council approved the agreement between M.C.P. Communications inc. and the City of Bromont regarding access rights to certain hiking trails on the land adjacent to the outdoor center.

    • City Council will not go forward with zoning bylaws changes regarding the Bromont sur le lac outdoor complex, hence no referendum will be held concerning the aforementioned.


Special events

  • As part of the festivities surrounding Bromont's 40th birthday, Bromonters are invited to one special "pool party" on June 27th at Skibromont.com. Access to the water park will be free, many surprises and activities for all on the premises.

Community life

  • Here is a sample of some of the day camps available in Bromont this summer :

    • A few places are still available for the city's day camps program. Contact the Service des loisirs at 534-4414.

    • The Centre national de cyclisme Bromont is also offering a summer day camp for kids between 8 and 14 years. Visit the website all www.cyclisme-bromont.ca for more info.

    • Tennis day camp for children aged 8 to 13 and 14 to 17 years, get in touch with Richard Soucy at Action loisirs at 375-2552 or by email celine.mailloux@sympatico.ca

  • Take advantage of some of the parks and facilities located throughout the city while having your daily dose of sunshine. Skate park, basketball fields and tennis courts can all be found just a few steps (or a short drive!) away.

  • June 23rd to 27th and June 30th to July 4th, competitions of international span will be taking over the Olympic Equestrian Site as L'International Bromont is back for the 2004 edition. Tickets available on the day of the event for $10.

  • Saint-François-Xavier church welcomes married couples celebrating wedding anniversaries to a special mass followed by brunch on Sunday June 13th. Tickets available at the presbytery or by contacting Father Réal Lanoie at 534-2181.

  • Tickets for Marc Dupré's show at le "Chapiteau Bromont" are available for Bromont residents at the special price of $25 (regular price $31.95). Tickets can be purchased at City Hall or at the Tourism and economic Information centre (open 7 days).

  • Discover and learn more on how to prepare and enjoy edible flowers thanks to the Club Horticole's next activity. Conference is set to take place at Domaine des Tourterelles in Fulford on June 14th at 7 p.m. New members are always welcomed. Visit the club's website for more information.

  • Tennis players are invited to join La ligue de tennis de Bromont. This organisation was created to promote and support tennis players from Bromont in practising and sharing their passion of the sport. Membership fee is $35 per family which includes affiliation to the Fédération de tennis du Québec. Contact Mr Paul Johnston at 266-2489.

  • The Beaux dimanches de Bromont concert series will start a new season on June 27th . La Luna musical group will be performing oriental inspired music and dance. Weather permitting, concerts start at 4 pm and usually take place at John-Savage Park but exceptionally, this first performance will be held at the Arena where concert take place on rainy Sundays.

  • Starting June 20th, municipal beach located on Frontenac street (just off Chemin de Gaspé) will be open to the public. Access to beach, parking lot and facilities is free. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. and noon - 6 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

  • Take out your lawn chairs and come cheer the 118 little ones taking part in this summer's soccer games. Games take place at 6:30 pm Mondays through Thursdays at Compton park (behind the community centre) and at La Chantignole. As of more "mature" soccer players, teens and adults, they are invited to a "friendly game night" which takes place every Thursday night. Call 534-4414 for all the details.
